FISCAL Technologies

Single Sign On overview

Updated

Single Sign On (SSO) allows your organisation to integrate FISCAL with your existing identity management system, enabling users to access the platform with their standard organisational credentials. We recommend using SSO to simplify access, strengthen security compliance, and enable advanced features like Multi Factor Authentication (MFA).

SSO overview

When logging in to FISCAL, users authenticate through your organisation's SSO. Benefits of Using SSO with FISCAL Forensics:

  • Users require only one set of login details for all SSO-enabled applications
  • Quick and easy access into FISCAL
  • Access automatically aligns with your organisation's security policies
  • Updates to authorisation policies are automatically applied across all applications
  • Enables additional security features such as Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)

Supported SSO providers:

  • OKTA SSO
  • Active Directory Federated Service (ADFS)
  • Microsoft Entra ID (previously Azure Active Directory (AAD))
  • Google Cloud Identity
  • Most other SSO providers (contact FISCAL to discuss your specific provider)

Setting Up SSO

FISCAL supports SSO via OpenID Connect or Microsoft Entra ID. To setup SSO, contact your Customer Success Manager with a list of email domains (e.g. @example.com) to enable Authentication Management Settings, and then follow the guide for your authentication provider:

FAQs

Q. Does FISCAL Technologies provide SSO solutions for organisations?

A. No, FISCAL does not provide SSO solutions. We integrate FISCAL with your existing SSO provider. Your organisation must already have an SSO system in place for integration to occur.

Q. How does SSO affect user access when someone leaves the organisation?

A. When SSO is configured, FISCAL access is automatically managed through your organisation's identity system. If a user account is disabled in your SSO provider, their access to FISCAL is immediately revoked. However, to release the FISCAL licence for reassignment, your FISCAL User Administrator will need to separately deactivate the user through the Customer Settings page.

Q. What is FISCAL's password policy for non-SSO users?

A. FISCAL currently enforces a minimum of 8 characters with complexity requirements. However, we strongly recommends using passwords with a minimum length of 14 characters and implementing multi factor authentication where possible for enhanced security.

Q. Can you use both SSO and email/password for logging in to FISCAL?

A. Yes. In the Authentication Settings (within Customer Settings) you can enable both 'Email and Password Login' and SSO login via either OpenID Connect or Microsoft Entra ID. If you are using SSO, we recommend you disable the email and password login option.
